Clear the cache.
Sometimes, you just need something to reset your mind in the middle of the day. Whether it’s a quick workout, to get the endorphins flowing. Sometimes there are so many thoughts, decisions, stress, frustration, ideas that build up the first half of the day, it gets too cloudy to think and function for the rest of the day – not in an efficient way. If it gets too cloudy, I’ll take a shower to reset my mindspace, kind of like a Mental Emotional Reboot to clear the cache.

How we see our kids, how we see ourselves
How we see our kids. What we see in our kids. Is like an emotional, psychological tunnel into the past. Remembering, recalling what it was like, when life was a mystery. When everything was new. When our brains were firing to make brand new connections.
And what we see and how we see our kids, might be things we thought we left in the past, things we forgot, maybe things we thought we had overcome. But maybe not so much. And maybe that thing is too much of a reminder of how difficult it is to overcome.
And that tunnel into the past becomes a tunnel into ourselves, how we see ourselves, what we think about ourselves.
But that tunnel should be a revelation, a time to investigate, take stock, embrace awareness. Not another chance to become entrenched, double-down on regret and unchanging.

Writing.Resistance
You want to write but you don’t. So what’s holding you back? Lack of time. Mental space. Mindset. Have nothing to write about. Noone to read it. But the premise is, “you want to write but you don’t”. Don’t let trivial things get in the way of what you want to do.
If we’re honest with ourselves, these end up being excuses, for what’s really at stake. Fear of judgment, of our writing being, good, bad, stupid, great, amazing, awful, popular, ignored… rejected. And ultimately it becomes a risk-reward question, is risking my self-preservation worth the time, effort and energy? A lot of the times people conclude the answer is “no”. But gosh, how many times is something authentic, open, relevant and meaningful hidden just behind that “no”.
So look, if you want to write but you don’t. And any of those excuses sound similar. The cliche is “stop making excuses and just do it”. But really the answer is, stop judging yourself and be free. It’s not good or bad, stupid or great, amazing or awful, popular or ignored, accepted or rejected. Your writing will be what it is. The goal isn’t to write something great or not be bad. The goal is to write something authentic, and writing with the risk of vulnerability at the exposure of being “judged”, writing free from those judgments is where we find that authenticity.

Deadlines, Decisions
I find that the stress of deadlines, comes more specifically from having to make decisions by a deadline not from the actual task itself. And maybe having to make the micro-decisions within that task, that is the source of frustration, stress and anxiety.

Progressions
Progression: the process of developing or moving gradually towards a more advanced state. (Definitions from Oxford Languages)
The definition says it all — It’s a process. It’s development. It’s gradual. Toward a more advanced state.
Breaking that down even more…
Process: a series of actions or steps taken in order to achieve a particular end.
Develop: growing and becoming more mature, advanced, or elaborate.
Gradual: taking place or progressing slowly or by degrees.
Advanced: far on or ahead in development or progress. Is this a formula for mastery? Seems so clear yet too simple. Seems so definite but too abstract.
PROCESS – means there’s a system, a pathway, maybe a series of tasks or actions, sequential steps. Simple enough but where people probably find points of failure is a question of efficiency and optimization, that is maximizing input to output ratio but also doing things that are not additive to the ultimate endgoal. It’s not just establishing a process that saves time and energy (work) but also making sure the steps you are taking are heading in the right direction. That what you’re doing is taking you to where you want to go.
DEVELOP – Know and understand the regressions. That is, be a PHD of the regressions, know them inside and out. Which in part means studying and researching the “ideal”, perfected form of what you’re trying to accomplish. Then break down parts of that form into individual pieces to practice and master. But also further break down those pieces even more into simpler isolated regressions if you need to. Let go of your ego to embrace crawling to get to the baby steps.
GRADUAL – it requires patience. It’s gradual. Gradual means slow, incremental. It means you might not see visible gains or advancements in a day, week or even month. But take each incremental gain as a massive win, and accumulated over time creates a snowball effect. But it’s patience and delayed gratification. But remove the timeframe or expectations and gratification and satisfaction can be found in being present and engaged in the activity in itself.
ADVANCED – to reach an “advanced” state is to build on a “First Principles” foundation. Everything builds ontop of each other. Starting with a First Principles mindset is already establishing an advanced state. An advanced state is stacking, multiplying many First Principles ontop of each other. This is really the only way to go further beyond just mimicking, mirroring or just replicating an established norm. So don’t think of an “Advanced State” as some far off goal or endstate, think of it as a state of mind.
Do the practice of one thing everyday that is making you undeniably, incrementally better.

Emotions of a child
As an adolescence you feel like your own parents don’t understand you, you wonder who can ever understand you. As you grow older, you realize your parents were the only ones that understood you.
